About Us

We Stand Strong

Our mission is to assist people, ages 18 to 24, affected by cancer.  We provide financial assistance towards educational pursuits or participation in recreational activities where the young person’s illness creates a barrier to leading a full, meaningful life.

This Fund was created in memory of our son, Sean. Sean’s journey began in 1998 at the age of 8, when he was diagnosed with Leukemia. He endured treatment for 18 months and then relapsed so he had to continue with 2 more years of treatment. He was a cancer survivor until his senior year in high school, 2007, when he was diagnosed with a Grade III Anaplastic Astrocytoma brain tumor. Sean received another 18 months of treatment with one year free of tumors until 2011 when he relapsed.  Unfortunately after a year of trying several clinical trials and chemos, the tumor did not respond to the treatment.  On January 10, 2012 Sean earned his angel wings at the age of 21. Sean was an amazing young man and throughout his journey he never complained or asked “why me” but rather often responded with “it is what it is”.

You can apply for yourself or for someone else.  Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.  The process is simple and the application can be found on our website.
